Our staff can assist you with your travel plans and suggest local accommodations depending on your budget and specific needs. Our best suggestion is to stay at The Residence Inn by Marriott. This hotel is within the Pacific Center Medical Complex, only is a 2-minute indoor air conditioned walk to the hospital. The hotel offers very competitive long stay rates. The Pacific Center Complex in addition to the Panama Clinic Hospital (where our offices are located) and the Marriott Hotel has a pharmacy, local bank offices, more than 9 restaurants, a Kosher supermarket, a full service gym and a small shopping mall. In addition, and If desired, nearby, there are many housing options staring from Airbnb to full service 5-star hotels.

If necessary, to and from airport and in town transportation can be arranged. However, if you stay at the Marriott this will not be necessary as everything will be within indoor walking distance.

Panama City is considered the Hub of the Americas and traveling to Panama is very easy. Several major airlines like American, Air Canada, United, Delta, Copa Airlines and Spirit have direct daily flights from major US and Canadian cities. KLM, Iberia, Lufthansa, Air France, Turkish and Air Europa do the same from Europe.

In general, we recommend you arrive at least 48 hours before your scheduled procedure to meet with the surgeon, complete paperwork and get familiar with your new surroundings. Also, it is important to be on the ground and mobile before surgery to decrease the risk of developing blood clots in your legs from long travel times. Depending on your travel time the doctors will recommend when to travel.

It is preferred that you perform the required pro op medical tests at home with your family physician before you travel. If necessary, our office can send you an order form. These results should be scanned back to our office. You can also elect to have them once you arrive in Panama. If you choose this option plan to arrive a few days earlier to allow enough time to have them done and get the results in time. It is much better to have them done at home before you travel so that if there is anything abnormal this can be corrected ahead of time. After all, you are having elective surgery and your safety is our primary concern.

It is a good idea to travel with a friend or family member who can help you after surgery and provide support while you heal. The day after surgery our nurse will visit you at home or in the hotel to check on your condition and report back to the doctors to make sure everything is going as expected. She will also assist you in understanding and following your written post-operative instructions.

Before surgery you will receive written both pre op and post op instructions from the doctors. Post-operative physical therapy treatments are available and highly recommended. They consist of daily sessions of lymphatic drainage and ultrasound sessions. Our in house team located at the Medical Spa next door, is available to see you on a daily basis to make the recovery period as quick, easy and successful as possible.

Most patients should plan to stay in town a minimum of 10 -14 days. Depending on the type of surgery having the doctors will advise you before you make your travel plans what is the expected recovery time and when you should plan to return home.

Dr. Picard Ami and Dr Wilson will personally supervise your entire care. They will see before surgery, prior to discharge from the hospital and throughout your recovery period with periodic office appointments. The day after surgery our private nurses will visit you at home or at the hotel; they will assist you with wound care, showers, or any other needs you may have. This initial visit is complimentary and necessary as the nurses need to report back to the doctors to inform them of your progress. Normally you will be able to care for yourself with minimal help from family or friends. If you wish or need for the nurse to continue seeing you daily basis, theses can be arranged with our staff for an additional fee. All follow up visits at the office are included in your surgery package.

At the time of your return we will provide you with a written summary, in English, of your procedure and postoperative course.

Upon contacting our office via email or by using the Online Consultation system you will be asked to specify your area and procedure of interest as well some general information on your medical and surgical history. Upon receiving this information, the staff will coordinate and online consultation for you to meet with one of the doctors and go over all the details and surgical plan. This online consultation is done over a HIPPA compliant secure and professional online platform. The online consultation has a cost of US $100. Afterwards our staff will follow up with personalized preliminary quote. Once you are ready to decide, please contact our office again and they will guide and assist you through the rest of the process. The doctors and the staff are also available for any follow up consultations which have no cost as you have already paid for your consultation and they are considered part of the normal process. Distance does not need to be a barrier to perform a consultation almost as if you were physically in the office. You will be able to have an in-depth conversation, consultation, and information exchange.

Upon arrival you need to meet for a personal face to face consultation and physical evaluation with Dr Picard Ami or Dr Wilson, whichever you chose from the beginning. Preparation and attention to detail are essential for a smooth recovery a good result.

The overwhelming majority of plastic surgery patients do not have any complications. We will work very hard to ensure your safety and make the overall experience a successful and pleasant one. While in town you will have direct access to Dr Picard Ami, Dr Wilson, and the rest of the team via their personal cellphones. The team will always be available to handle any medical concerns and deal with any problems in the eventuality that some were to arise. Our team includes an excellent support group of well-trained specialists, nurses, and physical therapist to assist you in any needs. Our facilities are equipped with the most modern technological equipment to handle the most complex of medical problems, in case of need.

Our financial policy and philosophy are that in the eventuality that additional unplanned procedures become necessary there will be no charges from the surgeons nor from their anesthesiologist. You will however be responsible for the additional hospital charges incurred as these are completely out of our control.

Because every patient is different and unique, and no two procedures are exactly alike it is not accurate to quote prices without first seeing the patient. The best option and a necessary step prior to the final surgical plan is to have a face to face meeting with the doctor. We can start the process with an online consultation, formulate a surgical plan and come up with pretty accurate personalized surgical quote.

Our fees are reasonable and have been determined based on multiple factors including among other; our years of experience, the complexity of the procedure requested, length of surgery and hospital stay, type of anesthesia, place where the surgery takes place (in or outpatient).

Hospital charges are determined by the hospital and out of our control. We will do our best to help you get the best packages and provide you with the best option for where your surgery can take place. Combining some procedures can often result in some savings by getting a package price as opposed to doing the same procedures on separate dates. On the other hand, many procedures already include another procedure, for instance, a facelift includes the neck lift and a tummy tuck usually includes lipo-sculpture on the flanks to help refine the waistline. After your online consultation and agreeing with the doctor on a surgical plan our surgical coordinator will provide you with an individual written quote which is good for 90 days. The quote will include the surgeon and anesthesiologist fees as well as hospital charges. It will also include the price of implants, post op garments, physical therapy and anything else that you may need. All items will be listed individually so you can understand all the costs involved. The quote will not include take home medications nor pre op lab testing. Hospital charges can vary as these prices have been provided to us by the hospital based on the original plan and anticipated needs. If something changes, there may be additional charges. Most of the time our estimates are very accurate.
